What is Fexofenadine?
It is a second generation antihistamine, or allergy medication. It is used to treat seasonal allergies and hives. In Canada and the United States it is sold under the Brand name Allegra®.
You may also see it listed as fexofenadine hydrochloride or fexofenadine hcl.
It is available without a prescription in the United States as both Allegra® and Allegra-D®. Full prescription strength can be purchased over the counter.
Side Effects
It is generally well tolerated. Side effects include: drowsiness, dizziness, headache and vomiting.

Dosage
Fexofenadine
Normal adult dose: 180mg once a day or 60mg twice a day
Children 6 to 11 years old (with a doctors recommendation) 30mg twice a day
Children 2 to 6 years old (with a prescription) 30mg twice a day
Fexofenadine with pseudoephedrine
Normal Adult dose: 60mg/120mg once or twice a day or 180mg/240mg once a day.
