Atenolol is a beta blocker and it is sold under the brand name Tenormin® in the US. It can lower blood pressure, may reduce heart pain (angina) and other conditions as determined by your doctor. It is dosed once or twice a day. It is available in dosages of 25mg, 50mg and 100mg.

Losartan is a Angiotensin  Receptor Blocker, it lowers blood pressure by causing blood vessels to relax.  In the US it is sold under the brand name Cozaar®.  It is most often taken once per day, but may be taken twice a day. The dosage forms available are 25mg, 50mg and 100mg.

They seem to have about the same effect on blood pressure. This study found they controlled high blood pressure about the same but there are differences in heart rate. In fact, they may be use together to control blood pressure.
