Can I take loratadine with azithromycin? Is it ok to use Claritin and a Z pack together?

Loratadine (also sold under the brand name Claritin) is a non drowsy antihistamine.  This medication reduce the symptoms of allergies by blocking the effects of histamine in the body. It is also paired with the decongestant pseudoephedrine and sold under the Brand Name Claritin D.

Azithromycin is antibiotic from the class known as macrolides. It is used to treat certain types of bacterial infections. It is also known as the brand Names Zithromax, Zmax, Z-pak and Tri-pak. The tablets are available in 250mg and 500mg dosages.

There are no know major interactions between loratadine and azithromycin. Claritin D, the combination with a decongestant, also has no known interaction with Zithromax. Allergy and cold medications are commonly used to treat the symptoms from infections until the antibiotic begins working.
