What is Enalapril Maleate ?
It is a medication used to lower blood pressure, from a family of medications known as ACE Inhibitors. It is used to treat heart failure and high blood pressure. It may also be used to preserve kidney function in certain diabetics.
Dosage of Enalapril
It is typically started at 2.5 to 5 mg per day. Doses are often increased every week or so to a maximum of 20 mg to 40mg per day. Higher doses are often split up and give twice daily.
Common Side Effects
Often include: increased serum creatinine, increased potassium, dry cough, dizziness, low blood pressure, diarrhea, headache, rash and increased heart rate. Other side effects may occur.
Rare and Serious Side Effects
May include: angioedema, birth defects, serious liver problems and others
