What is Benazepril
An ACE Inhibitor, it causes blood vessels to relax. Sold in the US under the Brand names Lotensin® and Lotensin® HCT. It is used to treat high blood pressure or other conditions. Often used in combination with other medications to lower blood pressure.
What is the dosage of Benazepril HCL?
Starting dose is often 10 mg per day. The dose may be increased to 80 mg a day. Larger doses are often split up and the medication is taken twice a day. Maximum dose is usually about 80 mg per day.
The medication may be taken with or without food.
Side Effects
Common side effects of benazepril may include: dry cough, drowsiness, dizziness, increased potassium, rash, nausea, vomiting and others.
Rare and serious side effects can include: birth defects, swelling in the face and neck, kidney problems, liver problems, severe rash and more.
