Can I take loratadine with my Adderall? Is loratadine a medication I should not take with Adderall?
Loratadine is a common allergy medication or antihistamine. It blocks the effect of histamine in the body to reduce symptoms of allergies. It is generally tolerated very well by most people with the most common side effects being headache and drowsiness. It is commonly sold under the brand name Claritin®.
Adderall is a very strong stimulant used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy. It is available only by prescription. Some common side effects include: loss of appetite, dry mouth, headache, difficulty sleeping, anxiety, racing heart and increased blood pressure.
There is no significant interaction between the two medications. If you can safely use either medication alone, you should be able to use them together.
If you have any uncertainty about using both medications be sure to speak with a healthcare provider.
