Is it ok to use enalapril and loratadine together? Is there an interaction?

Enalapril (and the brand name Vasotec) is medication used to lower blood pressure. It is from a family of medications known as ACE Inhibitors. Most people tend to tolerated the medication well with the most common side effects being: dizziness, low blood pressure, headache, high levels of potassium and increased sensitivity to light.

Loratadine (and the brand name Claritin) is an antihistamine or allergy medication. It specifically blocks the H1 receptor in the body, blocking the effect of histamine and reducing allergy related symptoms. It has a low incidence of side effects which can include: drowsiness, dry mouth and headache.

There is no major interaction that has been identified between enalapril and loratadine. Many people are able to use both medications together safely. As always, one should be mindful of side effects. Be sure to speak with a healthcare provider if you are uncertain about using medications together or feel you may be having side effects.
